Stuff

"It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else, that prevents us from living freely and nobly.” - Henry David Thoreau

"Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends.... Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts." ~Henry David Thoreau
Well said Mr. Thoreau.

"Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice." ~Unknown
The Christmas music has started playing on my local radio station (Warm 106.9) and I'm beyond excited about it! Christmas music just lifts my spirit and makes me feel all holiday-ish! I'll miss the Christmas shows on TV though....but I DO own A Christmas Story which is my favorite movie of ALL TIME!!!!
This year we are truly struggling as parents on what to do about presents for our son Noah.
While I keep saying on here and in my head that I'm going to avoid all the crazy presents he'll want this year, but I'm not so perfect as I make myself out to be. Last year we bought Noah only used gifts except for just a few new toys, but honestly he didn't get very much. We were struggling financially really so thats partly our excuse and we were really starting our "green" movement in the house.
This year noah wants a Wii and we just can't bring ourselves to buy it. We already have 3 game systems as it is! And the cost is mind blowing for me. I mean I know the games are fun, but come on!!! $40+ for ONE game?? But I know my son is going to get up on Christmas morning and feel really sad when there is no Wii under the tree. (yes we will have a tree)
So while Stuff is just that: STuff. Its hard to break the habit of stuff to a child who has been literally stuffed to the brim with toys in the past, especially from Grandma.
More on this later....

You are ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!!! You like the Christmas Story!

Sorry, but that is my least favorite Christmas movie...but that's ok...it won't break our friendship up!

It's not my fave either...cuz I didn't watch it growing up.

One of our kiddos wants a Wii too...I just don't have any interest in yet another game system. Too bad, so sad. Get off your butt and ride your bike or use whatever else you got for Xmas. (mean mommy!)

I did get them 3 presents each...maybe 4. But I was quite strict (for me that is very strict). That was just the middle two of mine. The baby got 1 thing. He will be more interested in boxes and wrapping paper. And the older ones...one got about 4 things, and the other got 2 things because he's been very trying this year and I frankly don't care to reward someone who is a jerk and expects things to be dropped in his lap. Too bad if that's again mean...
